It’s been another weekend of horror. On Saturday the Trump regime joined with Israel to wage war on the world- this time in Iran. In another war for oil, fossil fueled fascists are the only ones who stand to win. They are putting us all at risk.
Why do we call this another war for fossil fuels? Iran has some of the world’s largest reserves of natural gas and oil (not far behind Venezuela, which he invaded illegally just a few weeks ago).
In fact, Big Oil companies have already declared their support for Trump’s illegal war, noting that “Iran’s oil industry, … is still considered to be structurally sound, unlike that of Venezuela’s.”
If you’re outraged, scared, sick, and tired of a country that always has money for war but never for our climate and communities, take action with us:
- Send a letter to Fortune 500 CEO’s and the AI companies to demand they condemn this illegal, immoral, and dangerous act of war.
- Join a partner call with May day Strong on Wednesday, march 4 at 7pm ET, 4pm PT to learn more and get on board with the plan to shut everything down on May 1.
Last week the AI company, Anthropic, told the Pentagon it didn’t want to surveil US citizens or have its algorithms decide who lives or dies through fully autonomous drones. OpenAI, the makers of ChatGPT, immediately filled the gap and said they’d do it – deepening the dangerous collusion between Big Tech and fossil fueled fascism we’ve been alerting you to since Trump returned to power.
Meanwhile, Chevron, ExxonMobil, and other big oil corporations are ready to push their plans for the region across the same way they did following the attacks on Venezuela.
Iran is only the latest war, but considering its potential to destabilize the region and draw in nuclear powers, it’s urgent we respond forcefully and with one voice. If we ever want a country that puts our climate and communities before corporate profit, it will take all of us together creating enough people power to depose the fossil fueled fascists.
Organized workers and unions representing 700,000 employees have already demanded tech companies not to comply with the Pentagon’s demands. You too can take action too. Sign the petition to demand the heads of corporations take a stand against this illegal and unauthorized and dangerous military action and use this toolkit to spread the word. We’ll see you in the streets.
