This Veteran’s Day – what used to be called Armistice day and a day to celebrate the end of war, not to celebrate war fighters –Veterans are calling for a national day of action to say NO WAR ON OUR CITIES!
Vets say NO – no cuts, no ICE, no occupation. We’re mobilizing to answer the call and we need you with us! Click here to find a protest near you on Veterans Day, and/or click here to tell your governor: Don’t deploy. Don’t comply. Stand strong against Trump’s occupation of American cities.
As we’ve been telling you: In at least 19 states, Guard members are assisting Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations. Troops from several additional states in the Southeast have deployed troops to the nation’s capital, and another two Republican-led states have sent troops to aid Trump’s further militarization of the southern border. In total, 23 of the 27 states with Republican governors are assisting Trump’s war on American cities.
But on Tuesday November 11 the script will be flipped. As Combat Veteran and About Face Director Brittany Ramos DeBarros put it, “On Tuesday, politicians will host pancake breakfasts and photo ops while millions struggle to survive … They will thank us for our service while asking members of the military to go against their own conscience and violate the constitution.”
This is a moment to stand up for democracy. So, veterans are taking to the streets. Just a few weeks ago, millions of people showed up for No Kings Day to say that the power belongs to the people. The Anti-fascist climate and worker movement we’re a part of stood up with them.
But we can’t stop at protests and rallies. That’s why we are mobilizing in cities facing military occupation – Washington DC, New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, Portland, Memphis – to be as loud and as visible as possible to stand against corruption and tyranny. There will be dozens of local solidarity events. Will you join us this Veterans Day to tell Trumps fossil fueled fascists military to stay off our streets?
