Sept 21 update: Today, Joe Manchin (Fossil fascist, WV) is finally releasing the details of his dirty deal. But Manchin’s new deal isn’t a sign of strength. It’s a sign of cowardice.
More than 80 Democrats in the US House have pledged to stop Manchin’s dirty deal. Senators Sanders and Markey have also pledged to vote against Manchin’s dirty deal. Most Republicans are opposed because Manchin cut them out of negotiations.
That means, all we need to do to stop Manchin’s dirty deal is to hold our coalition together in the House for a few more days, and convince a few more Senators to join us in outspoken opposition. We’re close, so close, to stopping Manchin’s dirty deal — But we’re missing your signature.
Before Manchin’s dirty deal gets a vote in the Senate, will you click here to sign our petition to Congress and demand they stop Manchin’s dirty deal?
Sept 8 update:
Call 917-791-2257 ask for your member of Congress or give the operator your street address and zip code to get connected, and tell them something like:
Hi, my name is_______ , & I’m from_______ . As your constituent I’m calling to demand that you do all you can to block Senator Manchin’s “permitting” proposal. Protecting our communities and climate is more important than giving another gift to the fossil fuel industry. Stand with the communities impacted by fossil fuels and the climate crisis and stop the dirty deal!

Our original post is below in case you need an update or want to share or sign the petition:
Tomorrow, hundreds of frontline leaders and allies will rally at the US capitol to demand that elected leaders put an end to Manchin’s dirty deal, which would make sacrifice zones out of the Appalachia, the Gulf, and other frontline communities. News reports say that Manchin is desperate to get his dirty pipeline bill attached to a “must pass” spending bill this month, making it harder for Democrats to vote against it.
But Manchin is also desperate because he’s running out of friends – and that means we can stop this dirty deal, if we act now. More than 50 Democrats in the House have already signed a letter saying they don’t like Manchin’s dirty deal, and wont vote for it if it’s attached to an unrelated spending bill. And a resolution to be voted on at the Democratic National Commitee this week says that Manchin is undermining the climate leadership of President Biden and his allies.
Now is the moment to stop Manchin’s dirty deal, and especially the plan to attach it to a must pass spending bill, for good. Click here to sign our petition to Congress and demand they stop Manchin’s dirty deal!
We’ve already told you how Manchin’s dirty deal is a fossil fuel bonanza. It guts the National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA), the Clean Water Act, while blocking public comment and diminishing indigenous peoples’ right to free prior and informed consent. And no matter what lies Joe Manchin is telling this week, or what gullible climate peacocks in the Senate want to believe, it will not do anything to promote renewable energy or electricity transmission.
As Rashida Tlaib recently said, “we don’t owe Manchin a damn thing.” Especially after he’s spent more than a year as the (undeserved) chair of the Senate Energy Committee dragging his feet and derailing every single climate action we need – from investment in renewables to a free an fair decision making at Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
We cannot allow Manchin’s Dirty Deal to sacrifice the health and well-being of frontline communities on the altar of corporate greed. We cannot allow Manchin to trade climate stability for money and donations from the fossil fuel industry. We canot allow fossil fueled fascists to dictate the terms of US energy policy for one minute more..
