We told you last week about Lorenzo Salgado and Johan Sebastian, two fathers, workers, and community members murdered by ICE just days apart.
On July 13 in Biddeford, Maine, ICE agents killed 26-year-old Johan Sebastian. A witness watched his partner fall to her knees looking at her husband’s body on the ground. His three year old daughter was standing next to her, crying, wearing a little pink backpack.
ICE said he weaponized his vehicle. They said the same thing about Lorenzo. In both cases, witnesses on the ground tell a different story. The public deserves the truth, and the family deserves justice. That’s why we’re asking everyone (not just those of you from Maine) to sign this petition with the Maine Immigrants’ Rights Coalition demanding every piece of evidence be preserved and released to the public.
This is not the first time ICE has justified a shooting by claiming someone tried to run over officers, only for later evidence to prove that to be untrue. In the 2025 shooting of Marimar Martinez in Chicago, ICE alleged she tried to ram federal agents, but video evidence later showed that to be false, and the criminal charges against her were dismissed. Earlier this year in Minneapolis, ICE claimed Renee Good attempted to run over officers before she was fatally shot, but video of the incident showed that was inaccurate.
We demand a full, independent investigation, the immediate release of all available evidence, and accountability for the wrongful death of Johan Sebastián.
