Call now: No budget deal for fossil fueled fascists

Last night, thousands of you joined us for a call on how to stop House Republicans’ fossil fueled fascist budget bill. And today we’re joining allies from across the progressive and climate movements for a national call-in day to light up the phone lines and make sure our representatives know we want them to sink this bill.

Click here or call (833) 971-2490 to tell your member of Congress to vote NO on the budget reconciliation bill. Already know your member of Congress and how they’ll vote? Call the congressional switchboard at (202) 224-3121. Not sure what to say? Just tell the operator your member of Congress’ name. Once you’re talking to staff or leaving a voicemail all you have to say is “Vote NO on the Budget Reconciliation package to protect our climate and communities!

Quick recap since, our previous post has a lot more detail: House Republicans overcame the stumbling block we told you about last week and advanced the bill past the Budget committee late Sunday night. The next vote has been scheduled for 1am Wednesday (yes you read that right) in the House Rules Committee. As you can tell from the midnight timing and rushed schedule, fossil fueled fascists in Congress continue to work as quickly, and secretly, as they can to pass this disastrous re-write of American society so they can turn our country into a fossil fueled fascist dictatorship ASAP.

But, as we heard last night from experts and members of Congress, there are still substantial disagreements among the Republican caucus, and as of today, Speaker MAGA Mike Johnson still does not have the votes to pass this budget. And, in an exciting sign that our pressure is workingRepublicans dropped the so-called Nonprofit Killer provision from the budget bill. But there is still so much bad, cruel, and dangerous in this budget, and now the US House of Representatives is one step closer to enacting it.

There are loads of reasons to oppose this bill. But not every member of congress may have, or be persuaded by, the same information. That’s why last night’s call featured partners across issue-areas because our healthcare, eldercare, childcare, freedom, climate action and so much more are at risk. Many of our partners have actions, events, and other resources to share, and a partial list is below. Pick any talking points and call tool you like, but the most important thing is to call your member of Congress right now and tell them to vote no on the Budget Reconciliation package. You can use our toll-free line for a little update and briefing, or just call the congressional switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and tell them to vote NO on the budget reconciliation bill.
