Feb 19 – Fossil fueled fascist billionaires are once again planning their annual convention (CERAWeek) in Houston at the end of March. As we have for the last few years, we’re supporting leaders in Texas and across the Gulf South as they organize and plan to resist.
This year, we’re planning three days of resistance and community building from March 21-23, which we’re calling Break the System. RSVP here to join us in Houston. CERAWeek is the so-called “Super Bowl of Energy Conferences.” We call it a who’s who of climate criminals and invited speakers and panelists includes Big Oil’s top executives, Wall Street fossil fuel financiers, and insiders from the Trump Administration. Noticeably absent from the guest list are the communities living next to refineries, the families rebuilding after climate disasters, the people who face the consequences of the decisions made by fossil fuel fascists in our government.
Our climate and communities have been locked out of the rooms where it happens. So we’re fighting back from outside.
For a more detailed plan and agenda, come to our call tonight, but the rough plan is to gather in Houston on Saturday March 21 for a community welcome and grounding; There will be workshops and trainings all day on Sunday March 22; and then we’ll take action to challenge the Oiligarchy and disrupt their posh CERAWeek conference on Monday March 23. Some folks will also stay longer and take additional actions March 24-27. Tonight on our call we’ll talk about what CERAWeek is and why it matters; What’s planned for March 21–23 in Houston; And how you can plug in.
