What happens when ordinary people take on the fossil fuel industry —a true vs Goliath struggle of people vs money and power? That’s the question the VS. GOLIATH mini-series seeks to answer.
Army veteran Russell swore an oath to protect and serve his country. But, as the waters, forests, and way of life he called home came under threat, he banded together with farmers and Indigenous leaders to defend his community from the domestic threat of the Mountain Valley pipeline. Wielding innovative and tried-and-true resistance tactics, this Appalachian community takes on a devastating project, backed by a shadowy corporation and one of the nation’s most powerful politicians.
The post-screening discussion will feature Russell Chisholm and Crystal Mello of POWHR Coalition, and Jason Crazy Bear Campos-Keck of 7 Directions of Service, moderated by Cathy Collentine, director of Sierra Club’s Beyond Dirty Fuels campaign.

Follow Sharon and her daughter, Sharmyra, as they wrestle with how to build a better future for St. James.
